GERONDI, MOSES BEN SOLOMON D'ESCOLA
GERONDI, MOSES BEN SOLOMON D'ESCOLA (second half of 13th century), paytan of Gerona, Catalonia. Gerondi was related to Naḥmanides\>\> , who in 1267 sent a letter from Jerusalem requesting that his greetings be conveyed to Gerondi – his "son and pupil" – whose poem he had read with great emotion on the Mount of Olives. He may have had in mind the seliḥah\>\> , "Yerushalayim Ir ha-Kodesh," printed at the conclusion of Naḥmanides' commentary to the Pentateuch.
